The Sun.dial Website has been posted displaying images, video and animation tests of the project. Please visit the site to learn more about the Sun.dial Project. It is a collaborative grant project between me, Max Kazemzadeh, Assistant Professor of Electronic Media Art at the University of North Texas School of Visual Arts, and Andy Holtin, Assistant Professor of Sculpture also at the University of North Texas School of Visual Arts.
Sun.dial is a global input system that captures realtime video and other information from/about the sun from different countries around the circumference of the earth, and brings it to one location to be displayed on a suspended ring of monitors and kinetic motor extensions with secondary lighting. Webcam systems are still being distributed around the globe to participating institutions. Sun.dial has been submitted to Ars Electronica for the 2006 September symposium in Linz, Austria.
